Antisemitic Manifestations
ca. 10 mins
Antisemitism, the hostility towards Jews, has existed for centuries.
The manifestations and justifications of antisemitism have changed over time, but certain narratives and motifs can always be recognized.
Antisemitism does not necessarily refer directly to Jews.
Today, the state of Israel, understood as a Jewish collective, is often used as a substitute when referring to Jews.
In doing so, classic antisemitic narratives are used.
Even if the experience of antisemitism for those affected is comparable to the experience of racism, there are important differences.
In contrast to racism, which emphasizes the inferiority and inferiority of the "others", Jews are seen as superior in antisemitism.
Their supposed actions are seen as a threat, Jews are associated with money and power and blamed for everything negative in the world.
In Israel-related antisemitism, this supposed superiority is transferred to the state of Israel and used to justify any aggression against Israel.
